About NORGEAR

Why NORGEAR?

The name is a little play on words. NORGEAR brings together Norgay, from Tenzing Norgay, and adventure gear – two things that capture what the brand is about.

Tenzing Norgay was someone I was heavily influenced by. An Indian/Nepali mountaineer who helped create history in 1953 when he and Edmund Hillary became the first confirmed people to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

For me, he represents exploration, determination and the willingness to go somewhere others haven’t gone before. Those are qualities that have always resonated with me.

So when it came to naming the brand, Norgay + Gear = NORGEAR felt like the right fit.

A little inspiration from someone who went where none had gone before, combined with what we make for those who want to go exploring themselves.

Built for the ride. Not for the show.

I’ve been riding since I was a kid, from my dad’s Kinetic Luna and Bajaj Chetak to my first motorcycle at 18. Years of riding – from everyday rides and trails to long-distance trips across India have taught me to appreciate what actually works when you’re out there.

For me, riding has always been about freedom. Exploring somewhere new, taking the trail less travelled, dealing with whatever the terrain throws at you, and enjoying the ride simply because it’s fun.

And spending years riding, you notice what works, what doesn’t, and what could be better.

The first NORGEAR idea came from something incredibly ordinary. On longer rides, the water in my hydration bladder would get warm, sometimes even hot. Drinking it was horrible. After experiencing it enough times, I started looking for a solution.

I found none.

And that became the first NORGEAR product.

There wasn’t some grand business plan behind it. Just a desire to create simple solutions to problems I’ve experienced first-hand – the kind of things that make you think, “I wish someone made this.”

Function First, Form Later. Always.

NORGEAR makes practical, well-made gear for motorcycles, trekking, camping, cycling and wherever else a particular product makes sense.

The idea is simple: solve a genuine problem and do it well.

Function comes first. The products should be well made and solve the problem, but there’s no need for unnecessary features or flashy branding.

Adventure need not be complicated or luxurious. Sometimes you just need the right gear, so you can spend less time worrying about it and more time enjoying where you’re going.

Make Adventures Easy.
